Fishery Technical Extention in China

The fishery technical extension system in China is divided into five levels: central level, provincial level, prefecture level, county level and township level. There have been about 2570 various fishery extension stations so far with a total of 27500 employees. The central fishery extension station is China National Fishery Technical Extention Station.

In order to further promote fishery development, China, at present, has carried out a number of fishery technical extension programs. The important ones include Key Fishery Technical Extension Programs sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Harvesting Programs sponsored by both the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance, National New Agriculture Technology Extension Programs sponsored by the State Planning Commission, National Key Scientific and Technological Research Achievement Program sponsored by the State Science and Technology Commission, and The Spark Program sponsored by the State Science and Technology Commission.

The funding for fishery technical extension comes from several channels, including state financial allocations, interest-free loans, development program loans, various foundations, international funds or loans, enterprise funds and private funds.
