Special cataloging situations :
Copy designations
In general, each physical entity is considered to be a single copy.
Sequential copy designations (i.e., c.2, c.3, etc.) are assigned in
the following cases:
- to multiple loose copies of a single document
- to multiple bound volumes that bind precisely
duplicative contents.
Local binding practices occasionally create the situation whereby an
additional copy is bound with other issues either within a given series,
or with another series so as to reflect a different call number, or with
a bibliographically unrelated item(s). In any of these situations,
add a MARC 590-Local Note to the record for c.1 and state, at minimum,
the call number of the other bound volume(s):
